Kylemore Community Training Centre

Kylemore Community Training Centre (KCTC), formerly a Community Training Workshop, first opened its doors circa 1981 in a classroom in a De La Salle primary school in Ballyfermot. Originally, it was part of a larger social project supporting the people of the parish.
Collaboration between the Dominican sisters and FÁS (now SOLAS) realised an opportunity to provide a second chance education to the young people in the area. To this day KCTC has sustained its position immersed within the community by ensuring the training we offer is relevant and labour market related. We promote a positive attitude to lifelong learning; active citizenship and social inclusion using a learner centred holistic approach to development. KCTC offers a new start to young adults who have left school early and want to obtain nationally recognised QQI certification at their own pace.

Ballyfermot Star Family Support Services

We provide non-judgemental support, guidance and education to drug users, their families and the community, enabling them to cope with and overcome the effects of drug use in their everyday lives.  Drug use affects not just the drug user but the whole family.  We recognise how drug use affects entire families and offer support to loved ones and parents whose children take drugs as well as supporting drug users to make the journey to recovery.  Family members are encouraged to examine their own needs rather than just the needs of their child or loved one and to see themselves as individuals in their own right.  Based on a philosophy of trust and understanding, we use strength-based approaches and services are orientated to enhance the service user’s self-esteem and ability to solve their own problems.
